Dashy speaks the Model Context Protocol, the open standard that hands an assistant a tool rather than a text box. This is the whole list. There is no eighth row we are holding back.

Consent names the app
When you connect an assistant, Dashy shows you exactly which app is asking and lets you choose read-only or read-and-write. Each app is approved on its own.
You see every change
Each edit is checked against the version you are looking at and written down with the app that made it. Nothing moves silently, and you can put anything back.
Drafts stay drafts
A widget your assistant writes lands as an inactive draft in a sandbox with no network of its own. It cannot run until you have read it and said yes.
Private stays private
Mark a widget private and it is not readable through the connection at all. The capture your assistant can ask for comes back with those cards blanked.

Questions people ask
- What is MCP?
- The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI apps connect to outside tools and data, the way a USB-C port connects devices. Dashy is one of those tools: any assistant that speaks the protocol can read and change your new tab, with your permission and nothing more.
- Which assistants work with Dashy?
- Any assistant that supports remote connectors over the Model Context Protocol, whether it runs on your desktop, in a browser tab or inside your code editor. Setup is a URL and one approval screen. Nothing gets installed, and nothing about Dashy changes if you later disconnect it.
- Can it see everything on my tab?
- Only what you allow. You choose read-only or read-and-write for each app you connect, widgets you mark private are never exposed, and when the assistant asks to see your tab it gets one masked picture rather than your live data.
- What happens if it makes a mess?
- Every change is listed with the app that made it, and each one can be put back. Anything larger arrives as a plan first, which is where most of the bad ideas get stopped.
- Does my assistant run my custom widgets?
- No. A widget written for you lands as an inactive draft. It runs in a sandbox with no network access and no storage outside itself, and only after you have looked at it and added it to a tab.
- Is this available now?
- The connection is being tested with early-access people and arrives for everyone with the new Dashy in October 2026. Leave an email and your connector details come with the first message.
