Chrome side panel · V2 preview

Your tools, beside your work.

Dashy’s Chrome side panel keeps supported tasks, notes and dashboard tools beside the webpage you are using. Read, write and check things off without opening another tab just to find your list.

Small workspace. Useful company.

Three ways to keep your place

Read and take notes

Keep your notes beside an article, course or reference page. Write down the useful parts without switching away from what you are reading.

Work through a checklist

Keep next steps visible while you work in another web app. A narrow task list is often all you need beside the page.

Keep a focus tool nearby

Use a supported timer alongside your work, then return to the full dashboard when you need more space.

One product, two useful spaces

A full dashboard when you want room.

Use the new tab dashboard for calendars, bookmarks, weather and a layout you can arrange. Open the side panel when you need a smaller set of tools beside another page. Neither requires you to turn your whole browser into a busy workspace.

V2 also includes development work on Dashy Agent and Claude and ChatGPT connections through MCP. Cloud AI is optional and separate from manually using your widgets. Browser compatibility and the final supported side-panel tools will be confirmed at launch.

About the side panel

What is the difference between a new tab and a side panel?
A new tab dashboard replaces the page you see when you open a tab. A side panel stays beside your current webpage. Dashy uses the new tab for a full dashboard layout and the side panel for supported tools in a narrow space.
Does the original Dashy already have a side panel?
Yes. The original Chrome Web Store listing is named Dashy New Tab Dashboard and Side Panel. This page describes the V2 experience in development; the original and V2 are separate releases.
Will every widget look the same in the side panel?
No. The side panel is narrower than the dashboard, and only supported widgets and actions belong there. Do not expect an entire desktop grid or every embedded service to fit unchanged.
Does opening the side panel give AI access to every webpage?
No. Opening a panel is not blanket permission to send page contents to an AI model. Page capture, cloud AI and connected tools have their own access requirements and user controls. Check the installed release’s permission flow before sharing content.
