Four things worth knowing before you install it.

  • No account to start

    Nothing is gated behind a sign-up screen. There is a sign-in, and it does one job: putting the same tab on your other computer.

  • It stays on your machine

    What you write in a note and what you put on a list live in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere until you connect something that needs it, and Dashy says so before you do.

  • Fast, thirty times a day

    The tab paints from cache in well under a blink. Nothing of Dashy is running while you are on other pages, so the thirtieth tab of the day costs what the first one did.

  • Undo is one click

    Move a card, resize it, restyle it, put it back where it was. Nothing you do here is a decision you have to live with.

Questions people ask

What is a custom new tab page?
It is what opens when you press Ctrl+T or Cmd+T. Chrome shows a search box and a row of shortcuts. A custom new tab page replaces that with something you choose: Dashy shows a sky that follows the hour, the time, a greeting, and the few things you check most, arranged the way you like.
Does Dashy work without an account?
Yes. The new Dashy’s local widgets, wallpapers and layouts can be used without an account. An account is needed for cloud features such as syncing dashboards between computers and connecting services.
Is Dashy free?
Personalizing the new Dashy is free: wallpapers, soundscapes, widgets and layouts. Cloud sync, connected services and cloud AI are part of paid plans. We’ll publish plan details when the new Dashy launches.
Will it slow my browser down?
It should not. There is no background process, no feed being fetched while you work, and the page you see is drawn from what is already on disk. The one thing that costs anything is a moving wallpaper, which is off unless you turn it on.
Can I get my normal new tab back?
Any time. Removing Dashy from Chrome restores the default page immediately, and nothing you made is kept anywhere you did not choose.
When does the new Dashy arrive?
The new Dashy arrives in October 2026. Join early access to get one email when it is ready. The original Dashy is available in the Chrome Web Store today and continues to work separately.
