No account to start
Start with local layouts, wallpapers and supported widgets. Cloud sync, cloud AI and connected services need an account and may require a paid plan.
Local essentials, optional cloud
Local notes and tasks can work on your device. Enabling sync or connected AI introduces cloud processing; review the relevant permissions and privacy information.
Choose how much runs
Start with a still wallpaper and local widgets, then add live services as needed. Background work supports features such as sync and connected tools; it is not a promise of zero network activity.
Your layout, your choice
Move and resize widgets, adjust their settings, change wallpapers and switch dashboards. AI is optional; the dashboard remains useful without it.

- What is a custom new tab page?
- It is what opens when you press Ctrl+T or Cmd+T. Chrome shows a search box and a row of shortcuts. A custom new tab page replaces that with something you choose: Dashy shows a sky that follows the hour, the time, a greeting, and the few things you check most, arranged the way you like.
- Does Dashy work without an account?
- Yes. The new Dashy’s local widgets, wallpapers and layouts can be used without an account. An account is needed for cloud features such as syncing dashboards between computers and connecting services.
- Is Dashy free?
- Personalizing the new Dashy is free: wallpapers, soundscapes, widgets and layouts. Cloud sync, connected services and cloud AI are part of paid plans. We’ll publish plan details when the new Dashy launches.
- Will it slow my browser down?
- Performance depends on your setup and device. Video wallpapers, live integrations and AI use more resources than a still wallpaper with local widgets. Dashy uses background services for features such as sync; launch performance measurements are still being verified.
- Can I get my normal new tab back?
- Any time. Removing Dashy from Chrome restores the default page immediately, but export anything you want to keep before uninstalling. Manage any cloud account data separately.
- When does the new Dashy arrive?
- The new Dashy arrives in October 2026. Join early access to get one email when it is ready. The original Dashy is available in the Chrome Web Store today and continues to work separately.
